Authors: Boyle, Elizabeth
Abstract: The aim of the CHERMUG project is to design, develop and test a game to support the teaching of introductory research methods and statistics to nursing and social science students and to disseminate information about the game widely to the community of nursing and social science staff and students across Europe who are taking such courses and who might benefit from the game. This report gives an overview of the project objectives and approach and the outcomes and results of the first year.

support students in acquiring methodological and statistical

Abstract: The CHERMUG project aims to develop a digital game to support

deliverable describes a literature review which was carried out to
identify papers which describe digital games which aim to teach
research methods and statistics. Search terms included varied
terms for digital games, terms relevant to the twin goals of games
for learning and engagement and terms for methodological and
statistical knowledge. Search terms identified 38 papers which
were considered relevant. The literature review confirmed that
there are relatively few papers describing the use of games for
teaching research methods and statistics and even fewer which
carried out rigorous evaluations of their success, although several
e-learning applications and animations to teach research methods
and statistics were identified as well as papers looking at how
statistics should be taught.

Abstract: This deliverable provides a definition of social data for the ODS project. It presents a use case that summaries the social data requirements of the ODS target users. Along these requirements it analyses and compares suitable social data formats to store social data within ODS. In addition, it reviews needed Linked Data specifications to expose aggregated social data to the Linked Data cloud. Finally, it also suggests needed legal statements to inform the target users about the usage of their social data within the ODS platform.
