Title: Learning Path Specification
Authors: Janssen, José; Hermans, Henry; Berlanga, Adriana; Koper, Rob
Abstract: The learning path specification is documented in the Learning Path Information Model. The related XML binding (schema) can be found in the lps-20081128.xsd(zipped) file.

Preference Search Service - Specification and Implementation

Title: Preference Search Service - Specification and Implementation
Authors: Kärger, Philipp; Herder, Eelco; Abel, Fabian; Olmedilla, Daniel; Siberski, Wolf
Abstract: While the growing number of learning resources increases the
choice for learners, it also makes it more and more difficult to
find suitable courses. Thus, improved search capabilities on
learning resource repositories are required.
In this document, we describe the implementation of our
approach for learning resource search based on preference
queries. The implementation comprises a Web Service as well
as a java package supporting the client development for the
service. This Web Service acts as one part of the
TENCompetence Personalization Services developed in WP7.

Metadata Extraction and Search Interfaces - Specification

Title: Metadata Extraction and Search Interfaces - Specification
Authors: Demidova, Elena; Zenz, Gideon; Olmedilla, Daniel
Abstract: The Metadata Extraction and Search Interfaces offer a framework which allows for crawling
specific knowledge resources and extraction their metadata. Furthermore, extracted metadata
can be made persistently available for search using Metadata Extraction Listener and Search
Interfaces of the Framework. RDF description produced by the Metadata Extraction can be
adjusted using Ontology Mapper Interface.
The Metadata Extraction Interface can be used in two different ways. On the one hand it
provides methods to crawl a specified URI and mapping the metadata schema of the crawler
to the application ontology. The application has to take care about storing the returned
metadata. Alternatively, Metadata Extraction Interface provides listener/event based methods.
Thereby an application can be registered as a listener by the Metadata Extractor, which fires
an event to the listener providing the crawled metadata for each document. The listener then
has to take care about further processing like e.g. storing metadata.

TENCompetence Domain Model

Title: TENCompetence Domain Model
Abstract: This is the version 1.1 of the TENCompetence Domain Model (version 1.0 released at 19-6-2006; version 1.1 at 9-11-2008). It contains several files: a) a pdf with the model description, b) three jpg files with class models (also in the pdf), c) a MagicDraw zip file with the model itself, d) a release history and e) a zip file with the older release.
The first version of the Domain Model was discussed in several seminars and workshops, among which the Prolearn Summer School, 7-6-2006; Bled; Slovania, and at the TEMATICE seminar, 14 June 2006 at the Sorbonne in Paris. Version 1.0 of the model was drawn with the UML tool 'MagicDraw' version 11.0. And the version 1.1 was drawn with MagicDraw 15.5. Also the documentation for each object is in MagicDraw.
