Abstract: How can we support learners in-situ or in context? What is the link between human cognition, sensor-based context-aware computing, and learning support? How can we design ubiquitous and mobile systems that support the learner's information needs, foster creativity and curiosity, and give efficient performance support. Based on recent analysis of mobile learning and mobile performance support literature the talk will highlight some examples and refer to the underlying educational and pedagogical theories and paradigms for learning support in context. Based on a reference model for mobile social software several applications will be described and classified according to content, context, data-flow, and educational approach. Linking parts of the current user context to educational services and content will be explained by using several sensor and actuator components.
