Abstract: In computer-supported collaborative learning environments (CSCL) students work together on assignments in virtual teams and depend on each other’s contribution to achieve their learning objectives. The online learning environment, however, may not only facilitate but also hamper group communication, coordination and collaboration. In this session, we present a group awareness widget that offers feedback based on data about the learners’ behaviour generated and logged automatically by the CSCL environment. The aim of the widget is to make students aware of their own activity relative to that of the group and of potentially large differences in activity between the group members.
