Abstract: The paper explores different issues and trends in regard to MOOCs pedagogical and didactical approaches applying the Group Concept Mapping methodology (GCM). Group Concept Mapping is a participative research methodology that identifies in an objective way the shared vision of a group of experts on a particu-lar issue (e.g. MOOC pedagogical and didactical approaches). Seventy-nine ideas have been generated and they were grouped in the following thematic categories: Learning design, Curriculum design, Methodologies, Learning network, Self-regulated learning, Assessment, Technology & Scaling, Participation and Organisation. The study’s results provide an empirical basis for making in-formed suggestions as how to combine the principles and instructional design guidelines of xMOOC and cMOOC.
