|Abstract:||In this study, we examine the control complexity of social ventures and we investigate the factors that influence the control. We will find that social ventures are mainly involved in creating social value, they recognize and use opportunities to create this value. They are innovative and mobilize people and other resources. Social ventures use mainly output and behavioural control for their own organisation. While mobilisation is instrumental for goal realisation, the social ventures connect their partner’s different practices and perspectives to each other, using social control. This can lead to tensions that can affect the control. Some factors are identified that can influence the control dynamics in social ventures. It is argued that especially changes in partner motives, financial circumstances, learning and the institutional environment prevail.|
