Abstract: This scoring frame was used as an instrument to assess whether learning strategies as retrieval practice and distributed practice occur in written learning materials in teacher education. The scoring frame is based on three criteria: (1) definition of the strategies, including an explanation of why these strategies are effective, (2) guidelines for practical implementation of the strategies in classrooms, explicitly linked to the strategies themselves, and (3) references to scientific research on the strategies
